Description
The National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW) became a national institution in 1998 as per Law 720/1998. It is the official national mechanism responsible for realizing womens advancement and gender equality in Lebanon. It is affiliated with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The mission of the NCLW is to advise on womens affairs, advocate for gender equality, synchronize the efforts conducted by ministries, public institutions, and civil society, and ensure that gender is mainstreamed across all government policies and frameworks. By law, it has three missions: consultative, coordinative, and executive.

Key activities include:
• Mapping and amending laws and regulations to eliminate gender discrimination
• Promoting gender mainstreaming in the policies and programs of public institutions and ministries in Lebanon
• Empowering women through capacity-building initiatives with the support of implementing partners
