The Arab Institute for Women (AiW) was established in 1973. It aims to increase womens empowerment and equality at a local, regional, and global level. It does this by:
1) Ensuring that local and regional issues pertinent to women are represented on an international scale 2) Acting as a hub which disseminates knowledge on Arab women in the region 3) Funding and supporting projects specific to Arab women and gender issues through its vast network of academics and activists 4) Raising awareness and promoting gender equality and human rights in the Arab world.
